“Bowling with Bobby Soper”

Wilkes-Barre, PA – Bobby Soper, president and CEO of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, will demonstrate to all of Northeastern Pennsylvania just how easy and fun it is to be part of Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake project when he demonstrates his bowling skills at Stanton Lanes in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, January 14 at 1 p.m. Soper will challenge representatives from other major Bowl for Kids’ Sake sponsors and Big Brothers Big Sisters board members.
The “Bowling with Bobby Soper” rally, marks the official beginning of the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising project. Soper is the 2011 community volunteer chairperson for Bowl for Kids’ Sake in Wyoming Valley.
This kick off event is designed to bring public awareness to the annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser that provides a major portion of the funds to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bridge. This year’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake is scheduled for Saturday, March 26, 2011. Last year’s event attracted nearly 1,400 bowlers to Stanton Lanes on a single day. Staff and volunteers will be hard at work between now and then raising money and recruiting volunteer bowlers for this March.
BBBS performs important youth mentoring work, matching up children with adult, college and high school mentors who become important role models in the lives of the youth. Research has shown that youth mentoring is an effective way to improve the lives of certain at-risk youth.
